The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
